The Journey Is Still Far

A number of times, I have read about Elijah, but recently, I gained a fresh insight from his experience after he killed all prophets of Baal. Will you follow me?
Elijah laid down and slept under the broom tree when the angel of the Lord touched him and said, "Get up and eat!" Elijah didn't waste time; he ate and lay down again. Then the angel of the Lord came again and touched him and said, “Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.”
Food is a vital ingredient for human existence. It is from food that we derive physical strength, and many things can be avoided by regular intake of food. The second coming of the angel was therefore a very clear reminder or revealer for Elijah to know that the journey ahead was very far!
Quite interesting. If there was no second coming of the angel, Elijah wouldn't have realised the extent and demand of the journey ahead, definitely. Also, the angel of the Lord came to Elijah and asked him to eat because where he was wasn’t the place God had in mind to be his final destination.
You may say without any doubt, "Elijah was subtly tired". Someone perhaps might say, "His angst destabilized him". Actually, in truth, the man lacked strength and courage at that very time, and consequently, he lost visions, ideas, and maybe even consciousness to know what would be happening next about his life.
Many a time, we do have potential abilities to execute plans, visions and ideas, but they remain recessive inside of us. We lack strength! We lack courage! We lack reminder!
A lot of people have gone astray because they lacked someone to encourage them. A lot of people are backsliding each day because they forget the new creature that Christ has made them to be, through his suffering, death and resurrection.
They need the strength that we can only get by knowing that God loves us each so very much that His one and only son, Jesus himself, died a horrible and humiliating death on our behalf. It’s the strength that we get every Sunday or fellowship as we sit and listen to God’s word in its truth and purity as expressed in sermons.
It's the strength that we get as we sing songs of praise to Him. It’s the strength that we get as we join others in fellowship; as we sing hymns, pray, confess our sins, give our offerings and partake of the Lord’s Supper together.
Isn't it sad that some people are out there who lack this strength, reminder and courage?
Please, as the writer of Hebrews encourages us, let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
Child of God, no matter where you are today, it is not God’s final destination for you. As long as there is still life in you, there are yet more grounds to cover and more territories to conquer. Beloved, your journey is still far and the future is still wide open. You need to be encouraged! You need to start encouraging someone today! Ask them about their life with God. Ask them how is their relationship. How are they executing the will of God? Ask if they are still living as the Lord has intentions for them. Push a text, call out to someone today and continously. Ask how they are doing in the Lord. Be encouraged and encourage others!
